Joy filled with the ambience of the occasion reverberated throughout the iKhwezi Centre in Gugulethu on Saturday.

It was the scene of the Christ Ministry Church celebration of its 10th anniversary and consecration, including the celebration of the 12th wedding anniversary of the founders.

Apostles Mbulelo and Nosiphiwo Madikane are the founders of the church.

On this day, about 300 congregants braved the cold weather to witness the occasion. Some religious luminaries in the Western Cape were also in attendance.

Madikane and his wife were handed certificates. A cake resembling the Bible, bearing 10th and 12th anniversary, was on display.

It was a glittering occasion, with guests in resplendent design outfits. The Gugulethu-based Christ Ministry Church was established on 27 July 2008.

Relaying the story behind the establishment of the church, Madikane told the guests: “It was not an easy road. Most of the people I started the church with are no longer here. Congregants came and left. But I persisted as I believed in what I was doing.

“I wish God can help the church grow so that we can host our 20th anniversary in a stadium. I am glad that I am anointed today. I am glad that respected and revered bishops from all over the province are here to embrace this occasion. This is the day I will always cherish for as long as I live.”

Pastor Vuyani Nkosana said through the grace of God, the church was growing in leaps and bounds. “God has been faithful to us throughout these years. He is a true God that lives. It is true that He opens closed doors.”
