This week, I would like us to talk about perseverance.

The dictionary describes perseverance thus: persistence in doing something despite difficulties faced.

This is what separates real entrepreneurs from chance takers. Business is thought, its not for the faint-hearted. With perseverance, you are guaranteed to achieve results.

In our previous column, we spoke about FOCUS, with which this week’s topic ties up.

Even the holy Bible encourages perseverance. Hard work pays off in the end. Most of us as small business-owners are lacking perseverance big time, that is why we end up starting different businesses and register them on daily basis.

We waste a great deal of time registering businesses and going through the painstaking process of compliance with different industries, because we lack the most important ingredient; perseverance. There are too many entrepreneurs from our townships that showed us that perseverance pays in the end. One of these is Luvuyo Rani of Silulo Ulutho Technologies. Rani, a former teacher, started his present business from the boot of a car, selling second-hand computers. He faced all the normal and yet scary challenges that we all face when starting a new business venture; self-doubt and uncertainty for future prospects of the business.

Rani persevered and focused on building his brand and today, his business has more than 40 branches between the Western and Eastern Capes.

In conclusion, I would like to practice perseverance in our business endeavours, as, when one climbs a mountain, there is always the fear of falling and failing. That feeling is what should keep us going and pushing for more. Contact Sonwabo@ Isolomoya Group 021826-2608, 0781080830
