LETTER: Begging as a career is an indictment on the individual

2017-03-23 06:02

At every corner in town, a man or woman stretches out their arms towards you, asking for money.

They do not ask for bread, insisting on money.

Not all of us are privileged enough to receive a good education and end up working in fancy offices.

But most are lucky to have the use of both our hands and legs. Many well-paying jobs don’t need education and only need you to use your body, so why choose to make begging a career?

Some beggars come from comfortable beds, homes with bread and water to bathe, but because of laziness claim a corner of the streets. At that corner they do their pity-me-work, forgetting that real people who aren’t pretending to be homeless actually need that money.
