Bravo Gugulethu Dev Forum

2016-04-28 06:00

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the efforts of the Gugulethu Dvelopment Forum for finally making its mark and be counted.

On 16 April I was invited as a member of the Nyanga Youth Development to deliver a message of support to the general meeting of the Gugulethu Development Forum.

This was encouraging because Gugs is one of the oldest township in the Cape.

This developmental structure will also influence people in areas like Nyanga and Philippi to come to the fore.

It will also influence the economical participation in places such as the Gugulethu Mall, Mzoli’s Place and Gugulethu Seven.

The existance of this structure will have the added value of encouraging former residents of this township to promote investment in the area.

I’m talking about the likes of Thembekile Makwetu, who is now the National Auditor General, Mcebisi Skhwatsha, now a Deputy Minister, Bongani Mkhongi, an MP, Siyabulela Makeleni, a Mayco Member, who will surely play a major role in ploughing back to the community.

This structure will be the vanguard of the people against big cooperatives that just see opportunities to exploit the people of Gugulethu.

This structure is a beacon of hope for Nju residents against gansterism and joblessness, housing development and business opportunities.

I know for sure that the success of Gugulethu will be the success of Nyanga East. The Gugulethu Day Hospital is so named after KTC. The train station in Gugulethu is named after Nyanga East. So the economic spin-offs will be good fr other townships bordering Gugulethu as well. I can not wait for the 30 April AGM at 8:00 in JL Zwane, to elect a legitimate structure.
