The match between Red Tigers F.C and Soul Brothers F.C ended in a goalless draw on Sunday, with both teams missing clear chances.

Taking place at the Vuyiseka Sports Complex in Philippi, it was a balanced game as Brothers F.C from Better Life dominated the first half and Tigers from Samora Machel dominated the second half.

Both the teams were disappointed as they needed full points to move up on the league.

Tiger’s coach Tulba Sobantwana praised his players for showing good football skills but said their problems were mainly in the front line.

“We should have scored at least three clear goals, but our strikers failed us. They (players) knock the ball well from the back to the midfield but the problem is in the finishing ... This was our game(and) we should have won,” said Sobantwana.

However, he gave credit to Brothers for showing resilience. “We knew that they were going to come forwards at us, although we were planning on catching them in the counter attack,” said Sobantwana.

Brothers coach Brian Matiwane reiterated Sobantwana’s sentiments that his team lacked the spark in front of the goals.

“I think we need to score goals. We play good football, but can’t score,” said Matiwane, who emphasised that ball possession does not win matches, but goals doe. He also lambasted his players for losing the ball easily.

Tigers is on sixth position with 38 points. While Brothers are ninth with 33 points.
