A 24-year-old man from Burgundy Estate has been arrested today (25 January) following an investigation into a robbery in Khayelitsha.

According to a report from provincial police, the incident occurred during the early hours of Tuesday at a residence in Litha Park.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says according to the information received by police the complainant was held up by gunpoint and the robbers made off with cellphones the complainant was repairing. The robbers then fled the scene in a white VW Polo.

She says the investigation led officers to a property in Burgundy Estate where the vehicle was spotted and officers recovered the stolen cellphones. They also found tablets and a computer monitor.

The man is expected to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court on Friday 27 January.
