Celebrate peace, run on Friday

What will you be doing this Reconciliation Day?

Gather the family and celebrate South Africa’s diverse heritage at the RCS Gugs Race, supported by Clicks, on Friday 16 December. Now in its 16th year, the RCS Gugulethu Reconciliation Race offers a 4.2km fun run and a 10km option through the vibrant township of Gugulethu.

The longer run takes participants past local landmarks such as Gugulethu Mall and the house of Mzoli Ngcawuzele, former athlete and owner of Mzolí’s Place - the township’s hippest hangout, as well as iconic memorials such as Amy Biehl and the Gugulethu Seven.

“We are really excited to partner with RSC in such a feel good, community event, which brings together communities from all walks of life, as well as promotes an active lifestyle and healthy living,” says Murishca Martheze, Clicks ClubCard Brand Manager.

“It’s our way of helping local communities to get active, know their numbers and feel good.”

Clicks Nursing Practitioners will be on hand to do free blood pressure, cholesterol and blood glucose checks for runners and their families. A health check is essential in detecting early warning signs of heart disease, diabetes or stroke.

There will also be a music festival featuring talented local artists, food stalls.
