Service to Glory Ministries in Khayelitsha recently celebrated 17 years in existence.

In the same vein, the church also officially launched the Gugulethu branch with the ordination of pastors Mxolisi and Nokwakha Mngxali.

Scores of people gathered at the Gugulethu Civic Hall to witness the ordination on Saturday, while church members gathered in Khayelitsha on Sunday for the celebrations.

Church leader pastor Ivan Mdyogolo said the church has grown from worshipping in a small classroom at Luhlaza High School, way back in 2001, with only two families. To date, they have hundreds of members and have also established a branch in Zwelethemba, Worcester.

Mdyogolo said it was important for the church to celebrate every milestone and to continue serving the community. Like many other churches, he said the church faces many challenges. “With all these challenges, we continue being relevant to our community and we thank God for the strength and wisdom to work under these circumstances,” he said.
