Zimasa under 15s coach, Amphiwe Cebisa, was a pretty pleased man after winning the Lingelethu Local Football Association Under 15 Challenge 2018 on May Day, Tuesday, in Site C.

Not only did his team humiliate the Mighty United in the final by 5 goals to nil, but they also played good and constructive football for their age.

The Khayelitsha lads (Zimasa) took the game to their opponents from the first whistle and were rewarded with two goals before half time.

Coming back from the break, they played with authority throughout the game.

In the second stanza, the Khayelitsha boys stunned the local favourites by scoring another three beautiful goals to make it 5 nil.

A number of his successful players were rewarded again by being spotted by talent scouts from big teams like Ajax Cape Town and Supersport.

“I was very pleased in the way my boys have stepped up to the plate.

This was never an easy tournament, but we managed to reach the finals and win.

All credit to the boys and the sponsors for such an opportunity,” said the delighted coach who was lifted up by his young players after the game.

The losers’ finals were between Valencia from Delft and Rebels from Site C, with the former coming third.

Being the first that the tournament- sponsored by Tsepo Makasi of Italian House from Delft- played in Lingelethu, it has captured the imagination of may people and their support.

The organisers and sponsor have promised a better offering next year. Makasi said it was great seeing young teams and the Lingelethu LFA joining him and buying the idea and showing their support. “I am thrilled how things unfolded.”
