The Vultures Netball team hosted a Netball tournament in Site C Khayelitsha this past weekend.

About 11 teams took part in the two divisions; juniors- players under the age of 17 years and seniors over the age of 17 years.

The finals of the juniors was between Cool Cats from Delft and Newlands from Khayelitsha.

The Cool cats won the game by 25 points to Newland’s 15 winning the first prize of R500, a trophy, medals and a brand new kit.

In the seniors, the final was between Seven X from Philippi and Themba Elihle from Mfuleni.

Seven X won the final by three points in a 27-24 final score line, taking home prize money worth R1000, a trophy, medals and a new kit.

Cool Cats coach Viwe Nete said they prepared very well for the tournament, which is why they came out on top.

“I tell my players to have fun on the field of play, even when they are under pressure.

I always encourage them to enjoy the game and they have once again made me proud,” she said.

She said she is also grateful of the support she gets from the parents of her players.

Tournament organiser Nobom Mzo of the Vultures said they hosted the tournament to try and bring people together and promote Netball. They want to revive the sport.
