Two suspects, aged 22 and 33 years, were arrested after they were found in position of a firearm which belongs to police, at Ndlovini, Khayelitsha, on Wednesday morning.

The two will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ Court, once charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm an ammunition.

This comes after Lingelethu SAPS and the Tactical Response Team (TRT) followed up on information they received and conducted a search at the house occupied by the suspects. The Z88 9mm firearm and 15 rounds were confiscated.

The fire arm is linked with the incident which took place on 14 May 2017 whereby two police officers, from the police station, were shot at by six suspects as they attended to a complaint in Ngcwalazi Drive in Ilitha Park, Khayelitsha. A female constable was injured. The suspects fled the scene with a police firearm.

Two suspects were due to appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrates’ court, once charged for possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
