On my way to work on Monday morning, approximately at about 6:20 I witnessed a robbery unfold in front of my eyes at Vanguard Drive traffic lights.

Driving in front of an SAPS quantum, we saw a woman being robbed of her handbag. I immediately stopped and pulled out my firearm and pursued the thugs with the help of other witnesses and the robbery victim. The police just stood there, watching. As the chase continued I was losing my breath and I decided to fire two warning shots in the air, the thugs continued to run. I then pointed the third shot at the suspect and missed him, the fourth shot hit him and he fell to the ground. The police immediately came rushing to me, they asked for my licence which I produced, feeling treated like a criminal they took me to the police station where my pistol was confiscated. I was told the firearm will form part of the case. This afternon I have to report at the police station.

I feel good that I saved that woman’s valuables at the same time am nervous.
