The defeat suffered by Foreigners Football Club to Cape Town Liverpool at Khayelitsha Soccer Stadium over the weekend is the latest in a series of defeats encountered by the team. The loss was the fourth in five matches in the Khayelitsha LFA.

And coach Zandisile Tyhobe was quick to defend his troops citing fatigue and match fitness as the reasons for his team’s humiliating defeat.

Liverpool scored five goals to Foreigners’ two in a league match which left the supporters moaning.

The first half ended with the two sides tied at one all. Things got bad in the second half as Foreigners leaked in four goals and scoring only one.

Tyhobe lambasted his boys for ill-discipline and the loss of possession in critical areas. “We didn’t play our normal game. Soon after they scored their second goal they were all over us and my boys started panicking,” he said.

Tyhobe said they didn’t prepare properly for the game due to bad weather. “We didn’t have a full squad. We had one substitute on the bench which made us calculate well our substitution. And even other players were bit arrogant because they knew they won’t be substituted,” he stated.
