Last Saturday, the country launched the 16 days of Activism Against No Violence on Women and Children Campaign for the umpteenth time.

It is a campaign dedicated to no tolerance to abuse of women and children. However, this should not mean that outside of this, women and child abuse should be the norm in our society.

At most, some people tend to say they will wait until this period is over then vent their anger just because they have abstained for such a long time from visiting violence on their loved ones.

Our women and children are vulnerable and should be treated and cared for as such. This goes both ways; mutual respect goes hand-in-hand for both genders.

There are those pockets of men who suffer at the hands of their partners too. This should not be condoned.

Some guys would go on to prove a point during this period and commit some callous and brutal murder on our sisters.

The recent murders of Unathi and others at the hands of their partners should not go unpunished like many others.

We should have zero tolerance on the brutal murder of any individual in our society.

We have become such a violent society even our kids are baptized into this evil in society. We need to become human again as we are slowly becoming de-sensitised of who we really are.

We fear and mistrust each other, including our own family members.

I call on everyone during this festive season to find that lost loving feeling. Show that caring side for your fellow sister and brother. We can do it.

On another note I could not miss this opportunity to say and show my deepest condolences to the Kilifele family for the loss of their loving daughter, Buyiswa Kilifele on 29 November. She will be laid to rest on Saturday the 09 November.

Funeral to take place at the Anglican Church in Langa.

May her soul rest in peace!
