Now that the soccer season is over one can look back at how their clubs performed.

It has been a seemingly long season, as usual. We have seen the hot and cold performances of the previously so-called glamour clubs. We have seen the diehards supporters sticking to their clubs even though they were performing below par.

Eish, soccer ain’t what it used to be. Seriously. If we were to talk about the number one cause of stress in our lives, then Mzantsi soccer takes the blame.

Maybe that is the reason most outies frequent the watering holes as a way to de-stress. One day you would be praising your club for excellent performance then the very next day they’d play amawaza.

I keep wondering maybe if it is because soccer is now a profession and players only perform to stay afloat and there is no love for the sport.

I reckon clubs should introduce pay per performance and maybe that way the standard of our soccer will change. Or perhaps get people with surnames or names that are relevant. In the olden days, the mere mention of a particular name or surname would get the blood boiling. The present crop of names do not conjure up a magic spell at all. There are no nicknames spelling fireworks for the present crop. Thus there is less venom in their boots.

Like I said at the beginning, the season has come and gone. congratulations to Sundums for being champs. Pirates for coming second and eish, to Chips for getting rid of Jola. Yes the writing was always on the wall for this son of the soil.

I hope Chips will now buy good players and leave the buy one get one from our neighbouring country. Last but not least all the best to Sundums against the little dokolwane Messi.
