The paramedics and the lifeguards were tending to the boy and when they were looking for Mgoqi hy was floating face-down in the water near the rocks. They tried to resuscitate him but to no avail and was declared dead on the scene.

“Mgoqi was in charge of history for high schools from Kraaifontein, Bellville, Kuils River, Eerste River till the Helderberg, including Lwandle. He was loved by everyone and will be sorely missed,” said Francois Lubbe, Circuit Manager: Circuit 4, Metro East Education District said.

Benjamin Scherenka, Director of Metro East Education District, described Mgoqi as someone who you could depend on anytime of the day and on any occasion.
