For many years now, I have observed people talking about their new year resolutions, and they get so excited that they let slip: “this coming year is my year, I will definitely achieve more.”

This has become very common thinking across the world.

As much as I am not a believer in the new year resolution phenomenon, I know that many people are certainly very much in tune with this belief.

However, what puzzles me is that people do not put more effort trying to ensure that what they wish for does come true.

I work hard every year in order to achieve more, and not fantasize about giving the effort a title in the form of a new year resolution.

I am against people lack the ethics to work hard, but expect miracles in return.

Even in the Bible it is stated: You will reap what you sow. And that your output will be equal to your input.

I am of the firm belief that if you do not invest in your expectations, then your wishes are as good as dead.

I am saying this based on principles of hard work.

Unlike some who expect higher returns even though they have little legal input to their expectation; people whose actions are not above board; people who sleep the whole day and wake up later in the day or night and partake of illegal activities to achieve their dreams.

I personally believe that if everybody can find or work hard or smart in whatever they are able to do legally, all our wishes can really come true.

If you want to achieve more than the previous years, what you need to do is to double or triple your efforts.

As an example, if one has resolved to lose weight, they know that they have to follow a strict regime of diet and exercise than in the preceding year.

It may not be easy, however one needs to work with the end in mind in order to achieve the desired outcome.

For as long as one still follows the same routine that you were following in the past year, one will not get or receive any different outcome.

There is no way that one can receive a different outcome if they apply the same modus operandi, year in, year out.

As in sport; a coach needs to change some tactics in order to win most of the games, and at times even some players need to be loaded off and be replaced in order to achieve particular results.

Teachers even; they need to change their methods in order for the class to achieve the higher marks desired to receive accolades.

All I am trying to say here is let us do things differently, there are some few things that needs to change and others needs to be on a higher plane for a good outcome: the mind-set needs to change.

You need to display passion, dedication, commitment and enthusiasm.

With these qualities, one is assured of good results.

If you are a small business owner do things differently; let the above inspire you.

If things do not go your way, involve a better business partner or business associates that can elevate you from one level to the next.

There is a saying: You cannot plant an apple tree and expect to reap bananas.

This is true, your success in any venture depends on how much effort you invest in it.

Change your game plans if needs be. Or change the template, so to speak.
