Nokuba ndihamba emfuleni wethunzi lokufa andiyikoyika bubi ngoba unam wena!

I am not offering a sermon, though.

As I look around in our communities I cannot help but notice that people have this phobia of everything.

Paranoia, which seems to manifest itself in all spheres of our life, seem to rule the roost, as it were.

It seems as if their lives are now full of fear. This fear has manifested itself in different kinds of forms. You look around and ufumanisa ingathi ngoku kugcwele ubuphakuphaku. Judging from the things that shakes them you can tell that there is that deep rooted fear.

This fear comes in different forms like fear of disappointment, fear of failure, fear of rejection, fear of not fitting in, fear of criminals, fear of being fired from their jobs, fear to challenge what is rightfully theirs or the status quo, fear to try anything I can go on the list is endless.

We have become a nation that does not believe in themselves and would rather entrust our well-being to someone else.

We do not trust ourselves anymore. With this in our hearts everyone else now is finding it manipulates us in whatever way they so wish to thus instilling fear at times.

We have become believers of anything that is passed onto us and would without questioning believe anything that comes from social media.

The social media part is causing so much damage to us and it is exasperating this fear in us.

We need to start asking ourselves first each time we come across anything that seeks to distort our way of life simple logical questions as to the validity of that piece of information.

People are playing on this weakness in us now and thus creating this unmeasurable amount of unhappiness in us.

Please people have courage to stand up and start believing in yourself and stop believing everything that gets thrown on to you.

Last but not least talking about conquering fear I would just like to congratulate the brave athletes from the province who took part in last weekend’s Comrades marathon.

You have conquered your fear and you believed that no matter what pain is just temporary and would not stop you from finishing the race.

I believe the editor Voox Sonandzi is going to run next year.

Let us overcome all the fear in us and maybe we can start living better lives.
