Friend killed over a dress

A woman from Nyanga is facing murder charges following a fatal clash over a dress.

The 24-year-old appeared at the Athlone Magistrate Court on Tuesday facing murder charge.

According to Nyanga police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi the two women fought over a clothing item that was being shared.

“The suspect allegedly stabbed the 29-year-old victim to death after the deceased overpowered her while they were fighting over a dress the deceased had borrowed.

When the suspect saw that the deceased was overpowering her she allegedly took a bread knife and stabbed the victim,” said Sitshitshi. She added that the woman was arrested two hours after the incident occurred.

. Meanwhile a 25-year-old man also appeared in Wynberg Magistrate Court on rape charges.

“The suspect allegedly raped his relative whilst she was asleep on 21 December 2016 in Nyanga. The victim alleges that she woke up at about 02:00 and felt somebody on top of her and thought it was her boyfriend but noticed that it a cousin’s son,”
