Its all systems go for the ‘Boxing Is Back’ tournament taking place at the revamped OR Tambo Sports Complex tommorow night.

Staged by C-Suns Promotions and supported by both the provincial and the national departments of sport, the tournament promises to be a sizzling affair with a potential to catapult lesser known boxers into national spotlight.

C-Suns Promotions boss China Mpololo said the eight bout bill will live up to expectations.

“ We visited all the camps in Gauteng and the Eastern Cape, and we received assurances from the managers that their boxers will pitch up at the OR Tambo Sports Complex and deliver superb boxing,” said Mpololo.

The first boxer to touch down at the Cape Town International Airport on Wednesday afternoon was Mdantsane’s Mfundo ‘Slashing Tiger’ Gwayana who did not mince his words as to why he was here.

Gwayana faces local favourite Dalisiwe Matlala Komani for the vacant WBF intertnational mini flyweight title in the main supporting bout over 12 rounds.

“I can’t afford to lose this opportunity. The fight came at the right time. I have nothing and I’m hungry for a title. I’m here to take the title – that’s all. I’m ready for the fight and have been preparing for it for a long time,” he said predicting that he would knock Komani out.

Meanwhile in the main the soft spoken Cristiano “Warrior of Faith” Ndombassy said though he respects his KZN opponent Nkululeko Mhlongo he was ready to go out and claim the title.

“Mhlongo is very experienced but on Friday night that will count for nothing as I want the title to remain here in Cape Town,” said Ndombassy.

Ndombassy’s manager Savva Savvas said they had done all their plans and it was up to the Angolan born fighter to show his class The weigh-in to be attended by the Minister of Sport Fikile Razzmatazz Mbalula and the Western Cape MEC Anroux Marais will be at the OR Tambo Sport Complex from 11:30am.

Tickets for the fight are on sale from all the computickets including Shoprite and Checkers.
