An estimated 50 000 excited spectators flocked to the Green Point Fan Walk on Saturday, eager to be a part of the Mother City’s biggest party.

The Cape Town Carnival once again blew fans away with a procession that included floats like Traffic Hazard, Township Angel and Heart of the

City, and over 2 000 incredible performers.

As the 1.2km Cape Town Carnival corridor came alive with music and colour, VIPs such as Premier Helen Zille, Mayor Patricia de Lille, along with Cape Town Carnival brand ambassadors, Siv Ngesi and

Liezel van der Westhuizen were in the center of the action.

Jay Douwes, CEO of Cape Town Carnival, said: “After the success of last year, we were aiming to make this year’s Carnival bigger and better. A goal we achieved with flying colours. Anticipation was high and there were more spectators than ever before, testament that the city loves this event as much as we do. It was a beautiful Cape evening and the Fan Walk was the perfect setting to celebrate both our diversity and unity.”
