Young gospel artist Lwethu Roda from Site B is currently promoting his latest album called Mangath’akekho Ekhona which he released in 2017.

The album with 10 songs is a fusion of traditional and worshipping gospel. He describes his second album as reviving.

The 26-year-old said he started singing in Sunday school. “I grew up in the church. Both my parents are pastors at Apostolic Faith Mission at Phillipi Plaza,” he said.

Roda who hails from Mossel Bay said in 2008 he joined a gospel group called Mzamomhle from his area. He worked with them for three years.

He said when he moved to Cape Town in 2012 he joined solo artist Thumeka Lothe and was her backup singer.

“In 2013 I went solo and the same year I released my first album called Thixo Ukhona. It took me four years to release another album,” said Roda. He said in his latest album he collaborated with Phiwokuhle Joloza.

Like any other young artist Roda is promoting his music by singing at taxi ranks, churches, weddings and funerals.

He said his album is available at Bell Star Shop in Bellville for R120, but it costs R80 if you buy it from him.
