Nyanga born Dj Thulani Sam, aka Aux Wodumo, aka King of Gqom is hoping to keep music lovers on a high with his first annual event.

He is hosting the The Step-up Experience this Friday at GQ Lounge in Gugulethu.

He has positioned himself as one of the most consistent of party makers in the Cape with his raw Gqom sounds.

Not only does he play the music but also produces it and he hopes to grow the musical culture of the young intact.

The Step up Experience will feature local spinners the likes of Dj Ntiro, Justeez, Sugar, Kenz de Don, Fosta, Kaygee and Xoli.

Sam, having played in front of most of the biggest music festivals in the province, believes has so much to offer and has started his own parties as a result.

“I always make sure I’m on top of my game and ahead of my peers.

The music scene has had profound impact on my personal style.”

Growing up in Nyanga played an influence in my career and working hard is an essential success to my life”, he added.

Sam recalls that back then there were little opportunities or creative jobs compared to now and because he has worked hard on his music career, today he has become a brand himself, a trendsetter who has established himself as a public entity, Aux, The Dj.

In 2014 after his inaugural birthday party event, he was named the “Gqom King”.

“I am hoping to unite people with this event where we have Gqom lovers and people just enjoying having a great time. I am hoping to organise events to keep the calendar busy and to provide locals with good, clea,n fun,” he added.

He also has a keen vision of boosting the local enterprise and thus has partnered with local brands by organising special gifts for the attendants provided by Soil Clothing and Ideshiwe Premium Products. Tickets will be available at the door at R0 for general access and R100 for VIP admission.
