A grandmother is appealing to anyone who can help her find the biological mother of her grandson whom she last visited years ago, in Khayelitsha.

Cynthia Norolela, 55, is looking for Nompumelelo Msipha, mother of Khanya Msipha, 10, who is from Ngqamakwe.

Norolela stays with Khanya in Y Section and his father, Mlamli Jwayi, her son who is the father of grandchild since died in 2015.

Msipha left Khanya to his father while he was still very young citing that she was struggling to take care of him.

“She (Msipha) paid a visit a number of times and called sometimes while Khanya was still young, but she has since stopped. I have tried to get hold of her on the cell phone over the years, but in vain. Khanya is not taking it well that he does not know his mother. He cries a lot and this worries him a lot. I am even struggling to buy him clothes. I am also struggling to buy him school uniform. He also suffers from fits and I have to hire cars to take him to hospital every now and then. I need to talk to her and discus matters concerning her child. I am appealing to anyone who might help me find her,” Norolela said.

She also said she had never been to Msipha’s home and that she does not know where to start searching for her.

Khanya said finding his mother would make him happy.

“I always think of her. I would not even recognise her when I see her. I was very young when she last visited me. I want her to buy me clothes and I want to know her,” he said.
