Two gym fanatics have a dream for Lwandle’s youth and older persons.

Simphiwe Mazokwana and Lwazi Mbambo want to create a gymnasium that will accommodate the young and old from the area.

They currently pump their muscles at Isikhwenkwe Gymnasium in the area, an environment they don’t believe is conducive to everyone.

For their vision to be realised, the two told City Vision they need containers and proper equipment to start their new venture.

The body builders say a lot of people want to go to the gym, but either can’t afford the fees or it doesn’t meet their particular needs, and so they wish to open their own gymnasium.

“We want this community to be a fit and healthy community, where everyone is warmly welcomed,” said Mazokwana.

“Young boys and older people want to come here and train, but unfortunately cannot because of all the money that has to be paid.”

The two believe this will encourage a lot of youth to come and join them which will help address social ills of the area such as drug abuse and criminal activities.

Mbambo said: “In what we see, going forward, is a gym where women and schoolchildren all working out in our gym. Some current gym users agree with us, and are enthusiastic about a different kind of gym.”

“We can host our own body building events, here in our kasi, something we haven’t seen in years,” said Mazokwana. “We look to any good samaritan who will help us fulfil this dream.”
