Western Cape detectives believe that the man pictured can help them solve a crime in which a security guard protecting Metrorail train driver was fatally wounded at a train station in Khayelitsha on January 9.

The man has a sleeper earring on his left ear.

Police spokesman Captain FC Van Wyk urged the public to help police trace this man. “ We believe he can help in the investigation in a murder and armed robbery case,” said Van Wyk.

On January 9 at about 6pm, a security guard was escorting a train driver at Chris Hani Train Station when two suspects approached him and pointed him with firearms.

They took his bulletproof and company firearm before shooting his one of his colleagues to death. The suspects also robbed the train conductor of his firearm before fleeing on foot.

Anyone with any information about this fatal incident is kindly requested to contact the investigating officer Detective Sergeant Deon Lotz on 082 443 4587 or 021 918 3391 alternatively Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
