Langa SAPS are looking for Mbulelo Ntuthuzelo Nomjana in connection with a murder that happened in Brinton Street on December 14, 2013 .The suspect was arrested the following day and he appeared in the Bishop Lavis Magistrate’s Court, was granted bail and he was due to appear again on the 20/04/2014, but he never pitched up at court. The case was postponed several times and Nomjana failed to arrive in court. A warrant of arrest was issued, and anyone who knows his whereabouts can contact Langa SAPS D/CST Bonginkosi Mcunukelwa 021 695 8000 or 079 174 9063. .Meanwhile, during weekend operations, Langa police arrested about 30 youths between the ages of 17 and 30 years of age for public drinking. They were arrested drinking outside different taverns in Zone 20, Taxi Rank, Church Street (Espikizi) and Washington Street next to the Chinese Tavern (Ematshayineni).Police spokesman Captaina Odwa Makupula warned the youth that they will continue to arrest people drinking alcohol on the streets.“People become victims of robberies, assaults and rapes due to this unacceptable behaviour. You are advised to drink alcohol inside the premises whether in their houses, home or tavern not on the street, not inside your car on the street,” .In another case, police are also experiencing another problem during our weekend operations whereby our members are being attacked by the community. The police vehicles are stoned and tyres are puctured when we close down sheebens especially in Zone 16, 17 and 20. Police are appealing to the community and leaders in Langa to condemn police attacks in the strongest possible terms. These vehicles are meant to serve the same community that damages them. By damaging these vehicles they are putting other people’s life in danger because there will be shortage of vehicles and service delivery will be highly affected. Despite of the attacks, police vowed to continue with their work and close the shebeens and people who damage vehicles will be charged.
