The Western Cape Liquor Authority and the owner of King’s Meat Restaurant at Ilitha Park settled on a total amount of R35 000.

This was after owner of the liquor outlet and restaurant was not fully compliant in terms of the Western Cape Liquor Act 4 of 2008. After several warnings and citations, he failed to fully adhere to certain provisions of the Liquor Act.

Lingelethu-West SAPS would like to advice all tavern owners and other liquor outlets to ensure that they trade responsibly and to adhere to the liquor act and the regulations. This will ensure that the traders will be able to reap the benefits associated with responsible liquor trading and also be in the best interest of the community and clients. According to Warrant Officer Fortuin, the Designated Liquor Officer at Lingelethu –West SAPS, he has noticed recently that some tavern owners are starting to change the way in which they sell liquor and conducts their business. He would like to applaud this positive movement into liquor trading and encourage the other traders to follow.
