Local artists will take centre stage at the annual Indibano event taking place in Gugulethu at the end of the month.

The event, organised by local forum of arts and entertainment entrepreneurs, Industry Hub, will take place at 50 on Gugs on Saturday 28 January.

It is aimed at promoting local artists, business and arts enterprises by creating a platform to for locals to showcase their talents.

According to the organisers, the last event was more music and artist dominated and they are hoping to have a slight deviation from that.

“Last year the event was dominated by music acts and we are hoping for more arts and craft to take centre stage.

People are invited to set up their stalls and to sell their products so that more people can benefit from the event,” said Odwa Noah.

He added that much of the events logistics were still to be confirmed but revellers can expect a better show than the last time.

He said that there were a few misconceptions about the forum that they are hoping to clear and address.

“People have suggested that this forum is for certain areas in Cape Town or for certain individuals when in fact we represent the whole of Cape Town.

If you have a business in the arts and entertainment industry, then you can be a member of our organisation,” he said.

Noah added that the ultimate goal of the organisation is to see growth in local industries. “We often see young talent from our areas fizzle out because of lack of support, this is why wanted to established a united, organisation where we can develop each other. In the organisations businesses can network and use each other’s services so that we can all grow,” he said.

Tickets are available at computicket for R50 and R70 at the gate with the event running from 11:00 to 23:00. For more contact or on Facebook at Indibano Community.
