Info highway stifling relations

We are slowly drifting away from using the wisdom that our elders have gained over the years(on our youth).

Today we look at them(youth) as failed products of a system that has never encouraged them to dream.

Today’s youth is so consumed by the materialistic digital age.

They are forgetting that the reason for our broken society is the same digital age that they’re praising.

True, our lives have become simpler in these modern days, but have they improved?

And yes, information is widely available and easy to access, but is it the kind of information that will build us?

I remember the days where the old man would sit under the tree and tell stories to the eager ears of the young.

I remember the days where your home was your first source of information.

I remember the days where our elders were our greatest teachers.

Today we look down on them and we now think that their knowledge is useless. We are slowly losing our trust in them while we are busy giving it to the world.

The time is now to go back and use those “walking libraries”, for our elders hold more information than a library shelf would do. We need to have more intergenerational dialogues and pass down the torch of wisdom, for we are stumbling in darkness. Lets honour our elders and learn as much from them while they are still alive.
