The Vernac Comedy Show opened last night at the Lookout Hill Tourism Centre and will carry until tomorrow night.

The event is brought by African Tales and Nu Home Entertainment in conjunction with Business and Arts South Africa (BASA), in partnership with Yoto Technologies.

This show used to be known as Hlala Nam Comedy Experience, and featured Afro-Jazz and Poetry. It was ran under the previous name for four successful years. This event coincides with the annual celebration of Africa Day which falls on May 25.

What better way to celebrate the beauty and splendour of Africa than in a comedy show which showcases the humorous talents of this continent, being served in indigenous languages such as Nguni and Sesotho?

Get ready to laugh until you fall off your seat. Financially stressed, frustrated and bored? No problems, we have a solution! Come and laugh all that out at the Vernac Comedy Show.

The line-up includes the likes of Ntshebe from KZN; Mbu Many Laughs from EL; Queen of Kasi Comedy Natasha Mira-match Hewana from Gugs and Zimo Mpahleni from Mtata.

Local performers well versed in colloquial comedy will be giving their hilarious takes on social, political, economic and general life issues in indigenous languages.
