Ikapa Jazz Movement is an association of jazz appreciators, a non-profit organization which aims to promote jazz music, arts and culture.

The collective also aims to encourage, nurture and develop talent through providing platforms for showcasing and exposing such talent.

The objective is to provide opportunities for social upliftment in our communities through improving and promoting jazz appreciation awareness.

Ikapa Jazz Movement(IJM) is a founder member of The South African Jazz Appreciators Association (SAJAA), launched in Durban on 9th August 2013.

Since 2008 IJM has played host to the Cape Town International Jazz after-party, attracting jazz appreciator clubs from around the country.

This event has grown significantly over the years and has now become an annual event for all jazz appreciators throughout Southern Africa.

We are proud to announce that this year the IJM and espAfrika have a partnership agreement to host the 2016 CTIJF after-party event.

“ Jazz is like wine. When it is new it is only for experts, but when it gets old everybody wants it” Steve Lacy

It is that time of the year again when the country descents to Cape Town for the 16th Cape Town International Jazz Festival.

Just when your soul is beginning to believe that you are in heaven, just when you are wondering how mankind survived without jazz for so many millennia, just when you are aching for more it stops.

On Sunday, 03 April 2016 IJM will host the after party at Johnson Ngwevela Hall in Langa to listen to the likes of Bra Tete Mbambisa ripping the ivories. Entrance fe e is R100. Bring your picnic basket, cooler box and drinks. Maxie Mahloane at 082 707 2651 or Joe Sidambe at 060 457 9762.
