JZ’s errors have bad effects on country

2015-12-17 06:00

Working for a government led by President Jacob Zuma should be a blessing.

All your dreams will be achieved, be they short, medium or long term goals.

Even if the economy and the rand tumble, you are guaranteed a full salary come month end, unlike the poor workers, who toil under the spectre of dismissal.

The president knew that when he fired ex-minister Nhlanhla Nene it would affect our rand negatively, but he still went ahead.

This is proof that we poor people live in a different world from him and his cronies.

His decisions cause us great stress because when the markets are not performing, it is hard to get applications or approval for work in the private sector. Employers just go ahead and retrench us.

Why must he punish us by making all these bad decisions that end up affecting our jobs? Does the president and the ANC care about the country and the well-being of its citizens?

Mr President, we as the nation are feeling the brunt of a weak economy and cannot afford to be guinea pigs anymore while you executives live comfortable lives.

The best is to have a salary model that will affect all executives when stupid decisions like these are taken. Executives should be paid on a commission basis instead of a basic salary with lots of perks. If the economy and the rand are under-performing, it must affect their salaries. That’s where it matters most and they will be forced to do something(about it).

We were expecting the higher education minister to fall – but what is this? The president must not play with our lives. It’s unfair, uncalled for and lacks leadership. We will just sing Don Carlos’ Suffering. Arrogance and ignorance take us nowhere.
