Members of the Khayelitsha Development Forum (KDF) are saddened by the untimely death of their treasurer, Siyamcela Jingose. He was stabbed to death in his neighbour’s house on Saturday 14 September. The forum has called for the law to take its course to ensure the perpetrator is behind the bars. Jingose was stabbed in the chest and died on the scene while “his alleged girlfriend” was injured.KDF chairperson Ndithini Tyhido described Jingose’s death as a loss not only to the forum but to the community at large. He said Jingose was a dedicated servant of the community. “As someone who was working with Siyamcela daily, I’m angry. Jingose was one of those people who was at the forefront wanting to change Khayelitsha to be a better place,” he said. Tyhido said Jingose attended a crime summit in Paarl on the day of his death. “It is not clear why he was attacked”.Khayelitsha police station spokesperson Const Lowellan West confirmed the incident. He said a 40-year-old man was stabbed in the chest and another woman, suspected to be his girlfriend, was injured during the incident. “The suspect was arrested the same evening and he appeared in court on Monday 23 September. He was released on bail. He is allegedly not staying in Khayelitsha as he fears for his safety. He will appear again in November,” said West.
