Khayelitsha Cricket Club u.13 had themselves to blame after losing to Mitchell’s Plain Cricket Club on Saturday 1 February during a match played at the Khayelitsha Cricket oval.

The two sides battled it out in the Western Province Cricket Association under 13 league.

Batting first, Mitchell’s Plain set their opponents a target of 161 after being bowled out for 160/6 in their 25 overs.

However, Khayelitsha battled to get going losing wickets at regular intervals. They eventually made 110/ 8 in their 25 overs, losing by 50 runs.

Khayelitsha coach Onke Kholwana said his boys made a lot of errors when they were bowling. “We gave away too many wide balls and that is why their score amounted to that,” he said. He said this is only their second game of the league and that they have new players who need some game time, because the players that played their first game were snatched up by another team.

Kholwana said with time the players will improve.
