The once vacant Asla-owned land along the N2 highway now houses a number of shacks after it was illegally invaded last week. The tract of land has been a bone of contention since the start of the year, with protesters demanding the land be handed over to them. This week the group also resorted to protest action on the N2, closing off the road with bricks and burning tyres. Authorities dismantled the structures on Wednesday (inset). Read more on page 5.
