Ntlalo Jordan is a much travelled local chef.

And on Good Friday, gourmands from Langa and elsewhere will have the chance to sample his dishes in an all-you-can-eat affair.

Jordan’s Ways of Cooking will be taking place at Gugas’Thebe at 17:00, at a measly price of only R190. Your taste buds will not be disappointed on the day.

This is because Ntlalo,32, is a cook who has travelled the world, literally, cooking in Five Star hotels, in countries like as Dubai, Sudan and Liberia, hosting the elite and the high-brow.

After his world travels, the Langa born chef thought, “what better ways than to offer my services to my people,”.

As he wants to bring that expertise home in Langa, he has named the experience: Jordan’s Ways of Cooking.

30 March is the day to make the date.

He has also served dignitaries at such hallowed venues as The Taj, Mandela Rhodes Place and Le Fraschhoek Hotel & Spa.

His is back home after a stint teaching others the art of culinary cooking in hotels in Liberia, he says.

His genesis with cooking has its roots when he attended the home economics class at Khulani High School, in Langa, where he matriculated in 2005.

“At school we would be required to cook and I ended up loving the process of making food, so after matriculating, I went to study at Iziko Culinary School.

There, my enthusiasm and the love for what I was learning, was noticed, and was referred to hotels as soon as I finished,” he said.

He said that it has been a great experience that rewarded him with an opportunity to travel.

“Dubai is top class, a spectacular City. While in Africa you have to be a lot more patient. When I arrived in Liberia, it was still struggling with the effects of the civil war, so I had to teach the guys in the kitchen to cook, which was not very easy,” he offered.

In other countries, he said, one of the biggest challenges was the language barrier, but was worth it at the end.

On Good Friday, he said he will be preparing Mediterranean cuisine, meat, cocktails and desserts,” he said.
