Leadership skills for learners

2018-04-12 06:03

For the first time ever, YMCA Cape Town, will launch TEEEP (The Economics and Entrepreneurship Education Programme) at Khayelitsha School Yomelela in Site B, with a class of 44 special needs learners of grade 5.

YMCA Cape Town is a registered non-profit, affiliated to the South African YMCA and the African Alliance of YMCAs. The organizational mission is to empower those most at risk in South Africa - the youth - through developing their leadership and communication skills, via our various weekly youth development programmes.

TEEEP is a sequential curriculum for children in grade 5 to grade 7 when they graduate from the programme. Unit 1 introduces children to basic economic concepts and focuses on helping them learn critical decision-making skills. This knowledge is essential in helping children build their own abilities to create a better future for themselves and for others through developing workforce and entrepreneurial skills. Through these lessons, children learn that the power of decision-making can open doors of opportunity.

YMCA Cape Town volunteers will run the programme at Yomelela every Wednesday’s after school
