Kraaifontein FC thrashed Napoli FC 6-3 in a legends friendly soccer match played at Mfuleni Sports Complex on Saturday 30 November. With both sides playing an attacking game, Kraaifontein took a 2-1 lead into the half time break. Napoli manager Siya Homane blamed his defence for the avalanche of goals. “We had a good plan but the problem was the lack of communication in the central defence. When they were going to the ball they went at the same time and left the back open,” he said. However, he praised his charges for scoring three goals saying it was promising display. He also blamed some of his “quality players” for not pitching up for the game. Kraaifontein coach Zola Dyan said they had a great game even though they were playing under a scorching heat. “My players showed great character and were desperate for a win. We managed to control the game,” he stated. Dyan said some of his players were a bit rusty due to a lack of game time. “All the players that are playing in the legends are over 35 years. Most of them are coaches from various teams in the Kraaifontein Football Association. They are not playing regularly. So, it was tough to some of them as players,” he said.
