Management at Luzuko Primary School, in Gugulethu, has hailed the renovations of their library.

School principal Noxolo Tonga said before the refurbishment the library “looked nothing like a library.”

She praised Sigma, a supportive partner with a special focus on credit management, for seeing the need to help the school.

Nonzwakazi Makeleni, from Sigma, said they are always on the look out for schools and non-governmental organisations that are in need.

“Luzuko asked us to donate a library for them and when we saw the state of their library we decided to do some renovations and buy new books for them,” she said.

After weeks of hard work, on Thursday 18 April the renovated library was officially handed over to the school.

Makeleni said books play an important part in learner’s lives which is why they decided to help out.

An elated Tonga said the new-look library will encourage their learners to read. She said technology has taken away the joy of reading books.

“Our learners can look forward to a brighter future,”she said.

School governing body chairperson Dumile Vokwana said the library will encourage learners to read more. Vokwana said the learners will find the books useful and that will make them better leaders for tomorrow.
