Love was all the rave during a service held by members of the Repheka Healing Ministries in Gugulethu, as they held a special service on Sunday to celebrate St Valentine.

The event was held at Sonwabo Primary School and the theme of the day was ‘Celebrating God’s Love’.

Repheka/Ropheka is Hebrew for “God’s Healing”, according to church leader Sonwabo Peter.

Dressed in the colours of love, it was an intimate affair for the attendees.

Speakers described love as the most essential part that needs to be instilled in societies.

Prophet Sonwabo Peter said February should be dedicated to love.

“This event was organised by women from the church. They want to show how great the love of God is, because when God loves, His love is unconditional while the humans’s is limited,” said Peter.

“We started in 2018, and we hope to do it annually, to encourage people to celebrate Valentine’s Day every day of the year. It mustn’t be once off. Our aim is to minister healing through love.”

Nondumiso Mvinjelwa-Mtshiselwa from The Well Ministries, based in Kuilsriver, urged congregants to love one another.

She said love no longer exist in communities these days.

“People don’t believe in love anymore. We are living in a very cruel world. People are turning against each other, doing all the bad things. We need to revive love and understand God,” she said.

Mtshiselwa lambasted fake pastors who are using the word of God for self-enrichment.

“Other people praise their pastors more than they praised God. They think the pastors are more powerful than our creator,” she stated.

Congregant Michelle Komani said the service was powerful and reviving. She said where there is love, there is patient and tolerance.

“When you have God in your heart, everything is possible. God humbles and his love is unconditional.”
