Lwandle shop owners have been urged to take extra precautions following a spike in robberies in the policing precinct. The suspects who are targeting these shops operate in a group of three to four, and are usually armed with firearms, says Sergeant Mthokozisi Gama, a Lwandle police spokesperson.In the most recent business robbery incident, two unknown armed suspects entered a shop in Nomzamo. “They both took out firearms and pointed them at the complainant, telling him to lie down on the ground,” Gama said. “They then asked where the money was kept, took four containers and told the complainant to place all the money in a bag. The men then fled the scene on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.” A case of business robbery is being investigated. Anyone with information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects is asked to contact Lwandle Police Station on 021 845 2060. Information can be shared anonymously With the spate of business robberies in the area, Lwandle police have issued the following tips to local shop owners: . Ensure that the gates of the shop are closed at all times; . Install better quality CCTV cameras and alarm systems; . Monitor and chase away people who hang around the shop; . Ensure that you report all suspicious individuals to the police; . Improve your business’ security by hiring security guards to remain on-site around-the-clock; . Always carry emergency contact numbers with you in case it’s needed for more assistance; and .
