Lanky runner Sbusiso Madikizela from Khayelitsha will be one of elite athletes competing in the Copenhagen Games in Denmark on June 20.

“I am in good shape and I am looking forward to do my best,” said Madikizela.

In Denmark, Madikizela will be doing 3000 metre steeple chase, followed by two competitions in Stockholm and Gothenburg (Sweden) on June 29 and July 11. He will also compete at Padavo City Games in Italy on July 16 before closing at in Brussels on July 26.

Madikizela said his main focus was to qualify for World Championship taking place in London on August.

“I would love to represent my country in at the championships,” he said.

Madikizela thanked his club MSA Multisport, the Western Province Athletics, fellow athletes Marks Mapekula and Thembelani Molefe for assisting him with his travelling fees.

He also thanked coach Ernie Gruhn for moulding him.
