Man murders his mother and sister

Police have arrested a 22-year-old man who allegedly murdered his mother and twin sister while they were sleeping.

According to a report from provincial police, the man returned to his  home in Lwandle on Saturday (4 February) and found his mother and twin sister sleeping.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, says he allegedly stabbed both victims before fleeing the scene on foot.

“Both victims aged 60 and 22 respectively died due to their injuries. The motive is unknown at this stage.”

She says at about 11:45, a resident informed police of the whereabouts of the suspect and he was arrested on the N2 highway.  

“A case of double murder is under investigation and the suspect will appear in court once charged.”
