A 21-year-old man from Old Crossroads roads has been arrested following a triple murder in KTC last week.

On Wednesday night three men aged between 21 and 18 years old were gunned down at around 23:00.

According to police the three victims were shot at in Ntlangano Crescent while they were in a parked vehicle.

“Police heard multiple gun shots and when they went to investigate found a white VW Jetta parked in the road and the driver’s door was opened.

One victim was found lying outside the car bleeding from the face and appeared to be shot in the head, another victim was found sitting in the passenger’s side, also shot through the head. A third victim was found few metres away from the vehicle,” said police spokesperson Captain Ntomboxolo Sitshitshi.

The assumed trigger man was arrested on Saturday and appeared at the Athlone Magistrate court on Monday. The case was remanded to next week.

In an unrelated case police arrested a 28 year old man in Browns Farm after he was nabbed with an unlicensed firearm.

“Acting on a tip-off police at about 01:30 arrested the man in possession of a police issue firearm with twelve rounds of ammunition.

The firearm’s serial number was filed off. The suspect was arrested in Nombanda Street in Browns Farm. Police also recovered a Plasma TV suspected to be stolen,” said Sitshitshi.

She added that the man had just came out of prison a week before. He appeared in Athlone Magistrate Court for the possession of an illegal firearm and ammunition and suspected stolen property.

“Once again the SAPS appreciate the zeal some community members continue to show in the fight against crime,” she concluded.
