A suspect was arrested in Khayelitsha last week for being in possession of abalone.

Harare police station spokesperson Capt Siyabulela Vukubi said on Thursday 5 September they received a tip-off about abalone that was stored in a house at C Section.

He said on arrival they recovered 936 units of abalone to the value of R327 600.

Vukubi said a man (35), who works for the City of Cape Town, was arrested and was due to appear at the Khayelitsha magistrate’s court.

He added that further information revealed that the suspect is currently out on bail for a house robbery that occurred in Parow earlier this year.
