Masithembane Burial Scheme fails to honour member’s claim

2016-06-30 06:00

Khanyisile Kheswa says she is disappointed after her burial society refused settle her claim for a brother who died in May.

Kheswa,53, from Europe, next to Gugulethu, said Masithembane Burial Scheme turned down her claim without any proper explanation.

Kheswa said she took-over the payment for the scheme from her daughter Thembisile Cele in March 2014 after she(Thembisile) had to relocate to Durban.

Thembisile had joined the society in September 2013.

Kheswa said the problem started after she put a claim after the demise of her brother, Sipho Cele. “I called them (Masithembane) and they told me to bring all the documents, including death certificate and affidavit from the police which I did. I was then told that the identity number of my brother reflected that he was a Zimbabwean and that they would not pay.”

Kheswa claims these allegations were not not true.

“I am not feeling right at all, because I had to use my savings to bury him while I had him covered with them.”

City Vision called the owner of the burial scheme only known as Gxoko, on Tuesday, but it seemed that he was not willing to give his side of the story.

“Tell her (Kheswa) to come to the meeting at the end of the month,” he said before hanging-up the call.
