Ekasi entertainment fraternity is reeling with shock after the death of Mavimbela Buhlungu who was killed on Tuesday morning in Nyanga.

According to police Buhlungu was shot by unknown gunmen who fled the scene on foot.

Tributes poured in on Facebook for Buhlungu who was an event organiser and at times a deejay-cum-mcee.

“I’m still coming to terms with your sudden passing. I wish this was a big fat joke and you’d just pop up, give us a hug and tell us “It’s chilled man” with that smile of yours,” said Zintle Mgwele.

She bemoaned Buhlungu’s death, saying he left too soon.

“If I had known bumping into you the other day was our last encounter, I would’ve given you the biggest hug and tell you how much I appreciated your presence in my life. You’ve been nothing but a great friend, a strong father and a great son to your parents. Your impeccable work ethic, drive, laughter, crazy jokes, warmth and your bubbly persona is what I’ll always remember you for,” she added.

Siya Qaku also said life will will never be the same again.

“For the sake of him to rest in peace we have to let him go, this entire earth was never made eternal for any human kind but we have our home which is eternity and that is heaven. When I always try to deal with such horrifying matters I strengthen myself by saying everything happens for a reason,” he said.

The police said they were investigating a case of murder.
