Ajax Cape Town trialists Aubrey Funga and Sameehg Doutie both featured in a recent friendly draw against Highlands Park and impressed coach Stanley Menzo, though a decision has yet to be taken on their futures.

Ajax captain Travis Graham banged home an equaliser for Ajax in a game that also saw new signings Rodrick Kabwe and Rheece Evans take part.

“The two trialists, Aubrey and Doutie, I think they did well – especially Doutie,” Menzo said. “He knows the Ajax way of playing so for him it was easier. Aubrey, you can see that he has things that we can use.”

Striker Funga plays for Zambian champions Zanaco, while Doutie was developed at Ajax and played for the first team between 2007 and 2011, before leaving for Orlando Pirates. He is a free agent after leaving Atletico de Kolkata in the Indian Super League.

Zambian international midfielder Kabwe and defender Evans also pleased Menzo with their performances.

“Both have to adapt to the way we play, but it will come and I was satisfied, especially by Kabwe in the midfield. Rheece had some problems, but he played 90 minutes and I’m happy for him.”

Ajax won five of their last six games of 2016 and restart their Absa Premiership campaign away at BidVest Wits on February 7.
