A Makhaza mother will appear in the Khayelitsha Magistrate’s Court tomorrow (14 February) for allegedly stabbing her son in the neck.

According to a report from provincial police, the 27-year-old mother was arrested in De Doorns today (13 February). Police spokesperson Captain FC van Wyk says on Sunday 5 February, the mother allegedly stabbed her two-year-old son in the neck at their home in Makhaza and fled the scene.

The woman is set to appear on an attempted murder charge.

“Crime against women and children are high on the priority list of the Western Cape police and we will not tolerate such acts of violence to be perpetrated against children in their own homes.”
